The Volume 18, , of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies.
The XXI Century Encyclopedia" is out. The book is opened with forewords
of Lieutenant General Vladimir Shamanov, Chief of the General Combat
Training and Troop Service Directorate of the Russian Federation Armed Forces,
and Vladimir Pahomov, President of the "Integrated Shipbilding Corporation".
Volume is devoted to training facilities and training systems forming an essential
component in combat training of forces.
The book consists of 6 sections, which present, with a breakdown by services
of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, the major types of trainer systems,
simulators, automated training systems, as well as naval, aircraft and space
trainer systems enabling instruction of personnel, as well as solution of various
tasks, including teamwork of intertype forces.

The Publishing House "Arms & Technologies" launched a project to release electronic
versions of the "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia"
volumes.
The electronic series was opened with the electronic version of Volume 12 , version 2006.1rus, which is currently on sale. Unlike the
published volumes, the foreign-language electronic versions will be issued separately.
The English-language version of Volume 12 is scheduled for release in February
2009. For some time, electronic versions will be available on CDs only. Later
on, users will be able to download them from .
Demo versions will be also available for downloading. .

The book is out. It is the second book of the social-political project
"Actual problems of social security".
The Academy of Geopolitical Problems and Security is the management company
of the project. The publication was supported by .
The group of authors leaded by Dmitry Shakin prepared a work containing consolidated
systematic view of the whole set of ways to provide information security.
The book has synchronous Russian and English text and is intended for both Russian
and foreign readers.

The book is out. The author, retired Vice Admiral
Vladimir Fedorov, who was a head of the Reconnaissance Department of the Main
Naval Staff in 1995–2003, dedicated his work to all reconnaissance men of the
Navy.
The book contains more than 1500 photos and documents related to history of
reconnaissance bodies of the Russian Navy, — from the Special Committee at the
Admiralty Collegium established in 1798 to the beginning of the XXI century.

The Volume 17, , of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies.
The XXI Century Encyclopedia" is out. The book is opened with forewords
of Army General Vladimir Isakov, Chief of Logistics of Armed Forces of
the Russian Federation, a Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation.
The book briefly describes the forces and facilities being used for various
kinds of supply including the materiel, transport, veterinary, sanitary, trade,
and welfare support. The authors put an emphasis on activities of the Staff
of the Logistic Service to improve the logistical support system and introduce
new technical supply facilities for military units.

On February 28, the book has been presented in the Cultural Center of the
Russian Armed Forces. The list of persons participated in the event includes
General of the Army Vladimir Isakov — the Chief of Logistics and a Deputy
Defense Minister, Vladimir Nekrasov — First Vice President of the LUKOIL
company, executives of the Federation Council, State Duma and Russian Defense
Ministry, as well as officers of the Fuel Supply Service of the Russian Armed
Forces.

The Volume 16, , of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI
Century Encyclopedia" is out. The book is opened with forewords of Colonel
General Vladislav Polonsky, Chief of the Main Tank-Automotive Directorate
of the RF Defense Ministry, and Sergei Chemezov, General Director of
the "Rosoboronexport" company.
This publication contains materials about military vehicles manufactured by
KAMAZ, GAZ, ZIL, and other Russian and Byelorussian automotive plants. The book
covers all varieties of this kind of military equipment — from special-purpose
vehicles to bodies and trailers mounted on wheels, as well as on caterpillar
tracks. Traditionally, there is a separate section containing information about
manufacturers.

The book lets us know the role of oil industry in ensuring Russia's security, ways of the fuel branch evolution and the role of this branch in solving military logistical problems when supporting activities of Military Forces of the Russian Federation. The Volume 15, , of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and
Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia" has been published. Two prolusions
open the book: the first article was written by Lieutenant General , Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation; and
the second one — by Lieutenant General Sergey Yurchenko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief
for Armament of Interior Troops of the Russian Ministry of the Interior.
The book covers armament and special equipment included into the inventory of
the Russian Interior Ministry for crime fighting, protecting State and private
property, using in criminal science, providing traffic safety, and making anti-terrorist
operations. There is a special section covering non-lethal weapons.

The Volume 14, of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies.
The XXI Century Encyclopedia" has been published. The book is opened with
prolusions by , the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and by
, the Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Nuclear Power.
The mission area of Armed Forces in this sphere is covered by Colonel-General
Vladimir Verkhovtsev, the Chief of the 12th Main Directorate of the Defense
Ministry of the Russian Federation.
There are no similar publications compatible by the subject and the amount of
information covered. It is the first time when one open publication provides
detailed and systematic materials about history, modern state, and basic directions
for development of the Russian nuclear weapons facilities.
It is obvious that the significant attention is paid to problems of safety during
manufacture, storage, transportation, and utilization of nuclear munitions.

The second edition of the book has been published.
The second edition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Naval Radio-Electronic
Warfare Service. The publication was prepared under general editorship of Admiral
Mikhail Abramov, the Chief of the Navy Staff. The head of the Editorial Board
is Rear-Admiral Yuri Efimov, the Chief of the Naval Radio-Electronic Warfare
Service. The book has been significantly revised and elaborated on the basis
of proposals from elements of the Naval Radio-Electronic Warfare Service, industrial
enterprises, scientific and education institutes. There were included materials
about the current state of the Naval Radio-Electronic Warfare system. It was
significantly expanded the section dedicated to enterprises and organizations
of the defense industry those design and manufacture all kinds of radio-electronic
warfare equipment for the Navy.

A new volume of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century
Encyclopedia" has been published. Volume 13 is called . Two prolusions underline
the publication's importance. The first article is written by Army General Yuri
Baluevsky, Chief of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces and First Deputy
Defense Minister. The second one is written by Colonel-General Evgeny Karpov,
Commander of Communication Service of the Russian Armed Forces and Deputy Chief
of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces.
The book, dedicated to one of the most secret military spheres, covers control
and communication systems for all kinds of Armed Forces from strategic to tactical
levels.
An article written by Lieutenant-General Andrey Osin, Chief of the Radio Electronic
Warfare Directorate of the General Staff, represents the radio electronic warfare
system of Armed Forces, which is covered in a separate section.

The book "The All-Russia Scientific Research Institute of Radio Engineering.
Pages of History" has been published. August 9, 2006 marks 85 years of
the All-Russia Scientific Research Institute of Radio Engineering, which is
among the oldest Russian defense enterprises. Its history starts with the Technical
Bureau, established by the Russian government in 1925 to implement new scientific
developments in military equipment. The scope of designs is impressive — from
aerial bombs to submarines.
Many models designed in the Institute, including first native radar stations,
were effectively used during the Second World War. After the war the Institute
focused its activity on radio detection and ranging, including related directions
such as identification, radio reconnaissance, and others. During the last years,
conversion projects take the considerable part of designs made in the Institute.

A new volume of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century
Encyclopedia" has been published. Volume 12 is called . Two prolusions open the book. The first article is written
by Colonel-General Nikolai Svertilov, Chief of the Main Missile and Artillery
Directorate of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation. The second one
is written by Yuri Mikhailov, Chief of the Munitions Industry and Special Chemistry
Directorate of the Federal Agency on Industry.
This is the first publication covering munitions for all branches of the Armed
Forces: Army, Air Force, Navy and special forces.
Problems of munitions utilization, including chemical munitions; dual-purpose
technologies; and conversion received much attention in the volume.

little known works of the Central Scientific Research Institute "Comet" - art
castings, and lets the reader know that company's figure-casters can embody
any, yet the bravest, creative idea of a sculptor or artist.

The Publishing House "Arms and Technologies" and Vneshtorgbank made a presentation
in the President Hotel of new volumes of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms
and Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia". There were presented: Volume
9 — , Volume 10 — , Volume 11 — , and the supplementary book . More than 350 people participated in the presentation
including representatives of the Defense Ministry, Land Force, Air Force, Navy,
organizations and enterprises of Russian defense Industry, mass media. .

The book , supplement to the encyclopedia "Russia's Arms
and Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia", has been issued.
March 19, 2006 marks the centennial of the Emperor's Decree, according to which
submarines of the Russian Imperial Navy have been distinguished as a separate
class of ships. This date is considered as a day when the Russian submarine
forces have been established. It is celebrated as Submariner's Day.
The book describes the history of the Russian submarine forces and covers the
period from the beginning of the XVIII Century to the present time. The publication
has been prepared with participation of central naval authorities, fleets, scientific
research institutes, naval institutes, leading enterprises which build submarines,
and public organizations.
The general supervisor was the Commander in Chief of the Navy.

The book has been issued. It is an information and cartographic
reference book, which contains more than 50 thousand articles with information
about Russia, countries and state unions in the world.
The book opens the huge Socio-Political Project "Safety & Security Problems
of Modern Society". The project was founded by the Russian Academy of Natural
Sciences, Russian Academy of Geopolitics and Security, and Transport Safety
& Security Fund. The scientific director of the project is Vladimir Pirumov, the
President of the Academy of Geopolitics and Security, the Vice-president of
the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. The editorial board includes people
from Russia, USA, Germany and Bulgaria.
Within the project there are plans to publish more than 17 books on all main
security and safety problems, including such important ones as information,
military, energetic, inter-confessional and others. Each book will contain synchronous
Russian and English text and will be decorated as an exclusive gift-book.

The book has been issued. The publication is dedicated to the 60th anniversary
of the Joint Stock Company "Corporate Group "Vega" also known as TsKB-17, NII-17,
and MNIIP in the past. The company designs and manufactures airborne and spaceborne
radio-electronic equipment for various applications including radio-location,
communications, navigation, laser measurements, and information. The well-know
long-range radar system A-50 is one of the company's designs. At the present
time the company incorporates more than 10 scientific research institutes, design
bureaus and plants located in Moscow, Rybinsk, Penza, Chelyabinsk and Kyshtym.
The book covers the company's history and the present state, main directions
of scientific research, as well as experience in solving social problems.

A new volume of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI
Century Encyclopedia" has been published. Volume 11 is called .
The book is prefaced with two articles. The first article was written by Colonel
General Nikolai Baranov, the Head of the Armament Chief Directorate and
the Deputy Armament Chief of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The second
one was written by Igor Kornitsky, the General Director of the Public
Joint-Stock Company "Optoelectronic instrumentation". Application of optical
and laser techniques in systems used to manage forces and control over weapons
is a distinctive peculiarity of the evolution of these systems during last decades.
The book has no analogues with similar amount of information and systematic
coverage of this sphere. The book contains sections covering control, sighting
and guidance systems for all kinds of weapons; space, navigation, topographic
and geodetic facilities; photographic and cinematographic equipment; measurement
systems; hydro-optics; and technologies used for manufacturing optical and laser
equipment. Much prominence is given by the volume to double-purpose technologies
used not only for military applications, but also in many high-technological
civil branches of the Russian industry.

The book covers the history of the Great war.
It is the first time when many fundamental facts have been introduced. The main
task of authors was to describe impartially the feat of people,their willingness
to serve the homeland in its need, reasons of decisionstaken by leaders of the
State, and the key role of the USSR in crushingfascist Germany. Photographs,
made by military reporters during that time,are widely used in the book.

The corporation MAK "Vympel" has been established in 1992 on the basis of the
Central Scientific-Industrial Association "Vympel". The main goal was to concentrate
scientific, industrial and financial resources on creation of space defense
systems. It was the major strategic problem ensuring the State security. The
book covers history, results and outlook of designs made by corporate enterprises.
They designed and created global space defense systems, systems for warning
of missile attack and space monitoring, as well as non-strategic missile defense
systems.

Oleg Kuznetsov, the president of the Russian Academy
of Natural Sciences (RANS) has awarded a group of people with the RANS honorary
sign "For Merits". The highest Academy's award was
granted to those people by the RANS Presidium for their active personal contribution
to the publication of books dedicated to information countermeasures, information
security and radio-electronic warfare.
Among the recipients of this award are Admiral Victor Kravchenko,
the Head of the Naval General Staff; Rear-admiral Yuri
Efimov, the Chief of the Naval Radio-electronic Warfare Service; Nikolai
Spasski, the Director General of the Publishing House "Arms and Technologies";
Edward Chekrygin, the Director General of the Taganrog
Scientific Research Institute of Communications; Sergei
Osinin, the deputy Director General of the Publishing House "Arms and
Technologies"; Victor Kurunov, the production editor
of the Publishing House "Arms and Technologies", Mikhail
Partala, an Assistant Professor of Radio-Electronic Warfare at the Naval
Institute of Radio-Electronics named after A. S. Popov.
On behalf of the RANS Presidium the awards were presented by the Vice President
of the Academy and the Chairman of the RANS Geopolitics and Security Section
Vladimir Pirumov, who has also received this award.

New volume of the Encyclopedia "Russia's Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century
Encyclopedia" has been published. The volume 10 is entitled .
The book is prefaced by an article by General of the Army Vladimir Mikhailov,
the Commander-in-Chief of Air Forces. The volume covers aviation weapons
(missiles, bombs, cannons); as well as systems for weapon control, communications,
reconnaissance, radio-electronic warfare, and automated control; navigation
equipment; and other kinds of aviation radio-electronics, which are now considered
as various types of avionics.

The book "60 years of selfless labor dedicated to pease" has been issued.
The book is timed to the 60th anniversary of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise
Scientific and Industrial Association of Machinery, which is a well-known enterprise
of the Russian defense industry. The enterprise manufactures naval rocket weapons
including famous anti-ship missiles such as "Amethyst", "Malachite",
"Basalt", "Granite", "Meteorite" and "Yakhont".
These systems were adopted not only by the Russian Navy, but also in China,
India and some other countries.

The Publishing House "Arms and Technologies" participated in the 56th
international book fair, Frankfurt, Germany, October 6-11, 2004. Nine issued
volumes of the Encyclopedia "Russia’s Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century
Encyclopedia" and other books were presented. The Publishing House’s exposition
held keen interest of visitors. .

The Volume 9 of the Encyclopedia "Russia’s Arms and Technologies. The XXI
Century Encyclopedia", , has been issued.
The volume is prefaced by an article by the Chief of the Armament Directorate
of Armed Forces, Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, General
of the Army Aleksei Moskovsky. The book contains complete descriptions
of modern approaches to building air, missile and aerospace defense systems.
There are described Russian battle and technical facilities of Air Defense for
the Air Force, Air Defense for the Land Force, Air Defense for the Navy, and
missile defense. The closing section of the book represents 218 organizations
and enterprises of the Russian defense industry those design and manufacture
equipment for air and missile defense.

issued.
The publication is dedicated to 100th anniversary of radio-electronic warfare.
The publication was prepared by a group of authors, leaded by the Chief of the
Naval Radio-Electronic Warfare Directorate, Rear-Admiral Yu. V. Efimov, under
general supervision of the Head of the Naval General Staff, Admiral V. A. Kravchenko.
The book covers the history of radio-electronic warfare in the Russian Navy
from 1904 to the beginning of the XXI century, its origin, evolution, modern
state, and prospects for future development, as well as its role and significance
for actions of forces during sea battles.

The Publishing House "Arms and Technologies" and VNESHTORGBANK organized an
official presentation of the volumes: 6 — , 7 — and 8 — comprising the Encyclopedia "Russia’s
Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia". The presentation
was held at the President Hotel in Moscow. It was attended by about 500 representatives
from Russia’s organizations and enterprises of the Defense Ministry and defense
industry and from mass media. .

The Volume 7 of the Encyclopedia "Russia’s Arms and Technologies. The
XXI Century Encyclopedia", , has been issued.
The Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General
of the Army Anatoly Kvashnin wrote an article of introduction about the role
of armored vehicles at current conditions. There are no books on this subject
with the same covering width. The book covers both battle vehicles (tanks, armored
troop carriers, battle vehicles for infantry, and others) and support vehicles
(vehicles for reparation, evacuation, technical maintenance), as well as motorcycles.
Catalogues of enterprises (as many as 66 are covered by the book) now include
numerous products, based on armored vehicles, for anti-terrorist and civil purposes.
