Methodical recommendations to follow when preparing initial materials
Volumes of the Encyclopedia "Russia’s Arms and Technologies. The XXI
Century Encyclopedia" contain materials about models (systems) of weapons
and military equipment, which were designed and are manufactured by organizations
and enterprises of the Russian defense industry.
These materials could be:
– materials about models (systems);
– articles about organizations and enterprises.
The material about any model (system) should contain:
– full, abbreviated and additional names, index, destination, year of the design;
– parts of the equipment, a short description of operation principles;
– peculiarities of the construction and usage, modifications;
– detailed specifications;
– illustrative materials (photos, slides, drawings, schemes, drafts);
– copies of registration certificates for export models and advertisement.
The article about an organization or enterprise may contain:
– full and abbreviated names, logotype (emblem);
– photo(s) of company’s head (leaders);
– a short historical reference;
– a general description of products;
– a description of advanced technologies, direction of future designs;
– illustrative materials (photos, slides, negatives, drawings, schemes);
– postal address, phone (fax) number for contacts, E-mail, web-site.
A conclusion of the company’s internal expert commission that this stuff may
be published should be attached to all materials.
In addition to these materials it is desirable to present previously issued
books, brochures, booklets, posters, etc.
If necessary, the Publishing House can visit the organization or enterprise
and make photos free of charge.
It is possible to place advertisement materials in the VIP-block of any volume.
All materials presented in an electronic form should comply with .
In order to make materials complete, illustrative and informative, it is advised
to satisfy the following criteria:
– an article about every model (a group of similar models) should contain 2-3
standard typewriter pages of text and 3-4 illustrations;
– an article about every system should contain 4-6 standard typewriter pages
of text and 5-6 illustrations;
– an article about the organization or enterprise should contain 4-6 standard
typewriter pages of text and 2-4 illustrations (including the head’s photo).
