THE CLASSIFIER OF THE LOGISTICS SERVICE DEVELOPMENT

This is a new encyclopedia volume dedicated to the Logistics of the Russian Federation Armed Forces. The book describes in brief the forces and facilities intended to provide material, transport, veterinary and sanitary, trade, welfare and other types of support to carry out the set of measures for keeping operational and mobilization readiness of troops.

The volume contains 18 sections that introduce the materiel employed by special troops and logistic services of the Russian Armed Forces, including railway troops, the Central Road Building and Motor Vehicles Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Central Propellant and Fuel Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Central Clothing Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry and others. The book includes data on the materiel items and gives a notion of the current and future level of the Logistics Service equipment based on state-of-the-art knowledge-intensive and high technologies. The Unified Classifier of Items of the Russian Federation Armed Forces developed by the Russian Federation Defense Ministry and parametrically compatible with similar classifiers is used to classify facilities.

Making the edition a special authority in the field is surely the fact that all of the matter the book contains has been compiled by army logistic experts and edited in general by Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov. The Editorial Board for the volume chaired by General of the Army Vladimir Isakov, Chief for the Logistics of the Armed Forces and Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, includes Colonel General Dmitry Bulkagov, Chief of Staff and First Deputy Chief for the Logistics of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Sergey Klimets, Commander of Railway Troops, Lieutenant General Aleksandr Kolesov, Chief of the Material and Equipment Ordering and Delivery Center for the Logistics of the Armed Forces, as well as chiefs for a number of directorates and services of the Armed Forces and chiefs for many directorates of the Russian Federation Defense Ministries.

The content of the book is prefaced with articles by Vladimir Isakov and Dmitry Bulgakov who present the major directions in improving the logistical support system for the Russian Federation Armed Forces and tell about the state and development prospects of the facilities in service with the Logistics Staff of the Armed Forces. A separate book section, "Logistical Organizations and Installations of the Russian Federation Armed Forces", gives a brief account of the creation history, structure, tasks and peculiarities of the Central Military Transportation Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Central Trade Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Federal State Organization "Recreation Directorate" of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Farming Directorate of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry, the Material and Equipment Ordering and Delivery Center for the Logistics of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, and the Military Memorial Center of the Russian Federation Armed Forces.
